Nicolette McKenzie's excellent vocal craft makes the town of Marlow's amateur sleuths, Judith, Suzie, and Becks, individually recognizable as they return for the third installment in this popular series. When Marlow's well-liked mayor drops dead in the middle of a town council meeting, aconite, known as the queen of poisons, is found in his coffee cup. As usual, the clues and suspects are many, leading the intrepid crime solvers in circles until the very end. McKenzie helps listeners keep the whole crowd straight with her gifted use of intonation, tone, and cadence.
